The Bishop’s Consort was formed by James Wilkinson for a concert in Clifton Cathedral when he was a student at Bristol University. Since then it has become a young and dynamic vocal ensemble, performing either one-to-a-part or expanding its forces to meet the demands of larger-scale music.
The group’s repertoire focuses mainly on sixteenth- and seventeeth-century music, and on the championing of new works. With their commitment in performance they bring a freshness and vitality to their music-making, to the delight of all their audiences.
